Long-billed Curlew (Numenius longirostris)

Would it help to know that God
is no relation etymologically
to good?


But closer to pour, to cast,
to funnel?


Dark above,
paler below:


the wing linings visible
in flight.


Closer to the name
invoked, the call
loud and musical, ascending.
